Synopsis
Seeds of Chaos tells the story of the noble peasant/warrior Rowan who was one of six great heroes who did battle with the Demon Lord Karnas. Aided by the Goddess Daenara they triumphed over the forces of Chaos, and then Rowan retreated to a small village to marry his wife while a grateful world rebuilt.
But the end of a war is not the end of history. The powers of Chaos and darkness have rebuilt...and they have a score to settle. Now Rowan is unwillingly thrust back onto the stage of world events, and it will be up to you to help him survive while he bides his time to once more defeat the forces of evil.
Or, given how he is treated by those he once saved...will you even try?
The Review
First and foremost, Seeds of Chaos is a really well executed fantasy story. It's not breaking a ton of new ground, but it delivers compelling characters, and keeps involving you in dangerous or intriguing situations that will ensure you are never bored. It has more gameplay elements than I typically prefer in an AVN, but the gameplay is well designed, and once you get the hang of it, it doesn't get in the way of having fun. The art is a little sparse compared to most western AVNs, but it's also incredibly good. There is a ton of content to play through, which is a definite plus, although it's a fair concern that after nearly 10 years of development the main questline seems to be dragging. Part of the reason for this is probably the insane amount of paths the character can choose, and not just for the MC, but also their wife. This ambition does at time create coding issues where characters may not react correctly to previous actions taken by the MC. Many aspects of Seeds of Chaos are extremely dark, and it features a plethora of interesting kinks and fetishes you can explore...or not.
If chaos is a ladder, this is definitely one worth climbing.
Q1 2025 Update
Seeds of Chaos added content in 2024 adding scenes to specific routes and fleshing out various characters. The main route, however, is still not advanced much beyond where it was in the beginning of 2024.
Pros:
- More fleshed out routes add to the immersion of the paths
- Lots of content added to the Main Event Battle of Astarte
- Several new hot sexual events
Cons:
- Several characters did not see progression over the past year.
- Limited progression of the main storyline
- The Fey events still feel somewhat untethered from the main narrative
